The Gwyn Alf Williams BBC Wales Annual Radio Lecture: "When Was Wales?" (1979)

On 12 November 1979, Gwyn Alf Williams delivered the BBC Wales Annual Radio Lecture, under the title “When Was Wales?” The immediate political context of the lecture was the Welsh devolution referendum held in the March of that year, in which the proposed Welsh Assembly had been defeated 4 to 1, throwing the then movement for Welsh self-government into crisis.
